Police officers on wheelchairs march for hostages in Colombia
This didn’t get a lot of press outside of the Bill Press Show on Air America which briefly touched on the 20 officers who are rolling 250 miles to the capital, Bogota from Medellin, where the legendary Pablo Escobar reeked havoc in the 1980s and 1990s.
While I do find it inspirational that these dedicated men would make such an incredible journey to have some of their police brethren released from jail. However, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are considered a terrorist organization by the United States and Canada, and I would assume that the protesting wheelchairs may cause some disagreements in the next week or so.
I wonder if the officers plan on outfitting their wheelchairs with steel plates, machine guns, and some incendiary devices? It could be just like that movie Murderball, only with a Latin twist.
Seriously though, FARC is a communist rebel group who hopefully not take offense to the demonstration; however, FARC has a history of not being afraid to spill a little blood for their cause. They employ all of the same tactics that terrorists typically use such as simple bombs, IEDs and kidnappings to make statements and pay bills. Additionally, FARC has ties to the lucrative cocaine trade. Gentlemen, may the force be with you! Otherwise, you’re sitting ducks.
